An Israeli settler in Hebrons village of Al-Zawiya on Thursday night attacked the home of a Palestinian who had been living in the house for six years, injuring him and seriously wounding his brother, the local police said.
The Israeli forces also shot dead a Palestinian youth who allegedly attempted to stab a settler, police said in a statement.
The incident happened at around 8:15 p.m. local time (2:15 a.m.) on Thursday in the village of al-Zabiya, located in the West Bank, according to the Israeli human rights group B’Tselem.
The police statement said that after an Israeli settlers attacked the house of Ahmad al-Hassan al-Sabri, a Palestinian, in the neighborhood of al-‘Awra, his brother Khader Sabri called the police.
Police arrived at the house and took al-Shabri to the hospital where he was treated for wounds to his head and chest.
His brother Khadir was treated in the hospital.
The settlers were then detained by the Israeli military, the statement said.
A Palestinian youth in al-Qassim village in the southern West Bank village of Hebron on Thursday evening attacked a settlers’ house in the area, injuring one settler and seriously injuring a second, the Palestinian security source said.
After the first settler was wounded, the second settler opened fire, killing the Palestinian youth, the source said, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to talk to the media.
Police said that the incident took place near the home belonging to the second Palestinian, who was killed in the attack.
The Palestinian youth is 17 years old, according the Palestinian police source.
On Friday, Israeli forces opened fire at a Palestinian home on the occupied West Bank city of Nablus in an apparent response to the recent stabbing attacks on Israelis, the Israel Defense Forces said.
No injuries were reported.
In response to Friday’s stabbing attacks, Palestinian protesters in the occupied territories threw rocks at Israeli security forces, while a crowd in Nabluss chanted “death to the settlers.”
The unrest in the region has been triggered by the deaths of three Israeli teens in the past few weeks, including an Israeli-Palestinian teenager who was shot dead by a Palestinian man and a Palestinian teen who was wounded by a knife-wielding Israeli.
On Thursday, Israeli authorities ordered the closure of the West Jerusalem neighborhood of Al Aqsa in the Old City in protest of the recent violence.
